Bibliography on Post Keynesian Economics

The bibliography below is assembled from my various posts, and provides a list of the most important books and articles on various topics within Post Keynesian economics.

It is divided into the following sections:
(1) Introductory Studies

(4) Methodology
(5) Uncertainty
(6) Endogenous Money
(7) Price Theory
(8) Trade Theory

This is a work in progress. I am not claiming it is exhaustive by any means. There are plenty of additional categories that could be included.

Also note the following important academic journals for technical and professional Post Keynesian economics literature:
(1) Journal of Post Keynesian Economics
(2) Review of Keynesian Economics (with the Elgar online page here)
(3) Cambridge Journal of Economics

Also see the Post Keynesian Economics Study Group:

(4) Methodology
In essence, there are three, partly overlapping, methodologies proposed for Post Keynesian economics:
(1) Critical realism;

(2) the Babylonian approach of Sheila Dow (1990; 1996), and

(3) Paul Davidson’s (1996) “generalising” methodology.

  1. Hi LK,

Thanks for this list. A couple of introductory texts on Post Keynesian Economics that are now well and truly dated are:

Paul Davidson and Eugene Smolensky "Aggregate Demand and Aggrehgate Supply Aggregate Supply Analysis" (published in the early sixties) and Jan Kregel "An Introduction to Post Keynesian Economics" (pubished in the early seventies).

    Regards,

    John Arthur

  3. A great resource--thank you.

Under (2) Advanced Overviews and Specialised Studies, after the 2nd entry, you might consider:

Tarshis, Lorie, et al. 1938. An Economic Program for American Democracy, Vanguard Press, New York.

Actually there were 7 joint authors from Harvard & Tufts--I chose Tarshis because your next entry is his 1947 work (which is available on archive.org, BTW).

Presently available from amazon.com for $450.

    Cheers,

    Tofu

  4. Interesting list... Thanks very much.

Not long ago, I was playing with the idea of making sort of a "database" of everything (or almost everything) related to post-Keynesian/MMT books and articles. However, yeah, I think it would never end.

For example, there are some things that can be added, so here's my two cents on introductory stuff.

Ric Holt's "What Is Post Keynesian Economics" (Archived because the original is down)
    https://web.archive.org/web/20151205045928/http://cc.shu.edu.tw/~tsungwu/holt.htm

And a personal favorite of mine: Neville Norman's "How To Recognize a Good Post Keynesian"
    http://www.robinson.cam.ac.uk/postkeynesian/members/seminarpapers/keynes/Norman180111paper4.pdf

Other interesting stuff i'd like you to check out: An new texbook made by Rochon and Rossi.
