He was too Austrian for that, in my view. But was he a lefty? Haven't read these bios of him. I would add Dosman's The Life and Times of Raúl Prebisch, 1901-1986, and Adelman's Worldly Philosopher: The Odyssey of Albert O. Hirschman. And I know Marx seems from another era, but I would recommend Francis Wheen relatively recent (1999) biography Karl Marx: A Life.
